VOLUNTEERS

Volunteer help is always needed and appreciated.  Scroll down to Site Support to see a list of what generally happens at a building site.  This can give you an idea of the skills that are needed, and ways you can help.  While our list deals mainly with the construction of the home, there are many other ways volunteers can assist. If you are interested in volunteering, you can call the number at the bottom of this page or complete the Volunteer Form.

General Information:

Generally, not much help is needed with excavation, but a lot of help is needed setting footers, moving gravel into the interior of footer system, and pouring cement into the footers. Assistance also is needed moving concrete block-to-block layers.

Once the masonry work is completed, it takes a day to get the floor beams started and the decking on the floor. After that, we put up walls, roof trusses, roof sheeting, and put the felt paper on the roof. We will then either shingle the roof or complete inside work, depending upon the weather.
